Mountain Select Mamba #4 Cold Cure Rosin Review
Highlights
Experience
Loud, greasy, and overall fire, Mountain Select’s Mamba #4 Cold Cure Rosin is here to stay in the rotation. This Mamba Double Underdawg and Gorilla Glue 4 cross is one of those savory strains that lingers in the nostrils and has some heavy effects. Its glue-forward notes are so authentic and good that just smelling the gram creates a craving.
Texture
The greasy and tacky nature of this rosin is one of the main traits that drew me to love it. I picked this gram up from Horizon Cannabis, where it came out of the refrigerator. Under the lovely foil seal was a goldish blonde dollop with a wet surface and terpenes leaking around the rosin mass. When I put a dab tool to its surface, it was extremely soft and creamy as you can see in the photos. As with all of the cold cure rosin I pick up, I left this out at room temperature and after about a week, it was still greasy on the surface and more solid once stirred with a dab tool.
Aroma
In all honesty, it was difficult for me at first to place a finger on what specific aroma notes this rosin possessed besides just really good hash. I had to smell this one multiple times, and also allow the terpenes to awaken at room temperature before I picked up on the aroma of stinky-sweet glue with a hint of fermenting fruit. Once I nailed down those scents though, I couldn’t unsmell them. The Gorilla Glue #4 comes through in a pretty dominant way with this strain, and I personally love it. I haven’t come across a ton of glue strains as of late, so finding this one was a nice treat.
Mode of Consumption
I’ve been very partial to the glass rig and quartz banger lately, so I decided to continue the trend and review the Mamba #4 that way. I did try both cold and hot start with this one so I could really assess both flavor and effects. I took a pretty good sized scoop (I do every time with this strain), probably about 10X the size of Colorado MED’s recommended concentrate serving size. The rosin melted clean into a gold oil when I added it to the nail around 520°F, after it bubbled for a few seconds initially.
Flavors & Mouthfeel
Similar to the aroma, I’ve had a difficult time defining exactly what flavor notes this one has to offer. After multiple dabs via various different vehicles, I have concluded that the main flavors of the Mamba #4 cold cure combines a cheesy and floral profile. Both of those notes come secondary to the initial hashy richness that blankets your taste buds though. In terms of mouthfeel, this rosin delivers a smooth and comfortable experience. The inhale is joined by a silky texture that coats the palate gently.
Effects
For starters, I love the Mamba #4 so much that it has become one of those strains that I ask for every time I go to the dispensary. The past few weeks I have had it on deck non-stop because the combination of its effects, quality, and price feels like a steal. When I dab it, I feel so comfortable and at ease, yet still functional. You can be high and still be productive and that’s why I really like it. I feel like it’s a pretty versatile strain for either day or night, but that could also depend on the glob size and the temperature it was dabbed at. It has been and will be here to stay in my rotation.
