äkta Candy Fumez #6 Cold Cure Live Rosin Review
Highlights
Experience
The melding of interesting candy citrus lemon elements with fuel make for a choice experience across the board in this Candy Fumez #6 cold cure live rosin. äkta is known for making the most of the living soil cultivation practices that their sister company Hava Gardens produces and this is certainly an example of a very terpene-rich solventless that is absolutely loaded with minor cannabinoids (we just wish we knew which ones). It’s best suited for the middle range of the day, but it’s hard to not keep smoking on it after you start no matter what time that happens to be. This one comfortably ranks in our Premium category as a rosin you would be well suited to buy the next time a drop comes around.
Texture
This batch of Candy Fumez #6 cold cure live rosin from äkta has a texture that is pretty rare in solventless form and is more reminiscent of the 2017/18’s cutting edge lightly dry sugary live resin. Like all of their rosin, it came in their signature trichome illustration adorned cardboard mini tube, which is recyclable and pretty hip as far as packaging goes. Don’t take the “dry” comment though as indicating it’s not full of terpenes however, because it is and tested just a hair over 7% which is well above average. It loosens up at room temperature a little bit but its surprisingly stable, tiny THC crystal granular structure is very easy to portion out and play around with. Its beautiful amber yellow hue glitters faintly under direct light but is slightly unassuming otherwise. It really isn’t like most cold cures, but that hardly matters.
Aroma
We’ve been fans of Harrry Palms’ work long before he launched Bloom Seed Co (this famous breeder was behind much of Oni Seed Co’s work in a previous age) and this cut of Candy Fumez is a marriage of Z and Sherbanger. The #6 pheno here that äkta grew in their living soil garden and washed is beautifully complex on the nose. The name itself is spot on as this live rosin contains high notes of sweetened lemons and grapefruit on top of a heavy metal, sharp gassy funk. Its aroma has got a lot going on and is going to delight virtually all connoisseurs by our estimation. Z tends to run pretty tropical in nature whereas a lot of Sherbanger phenotypes are coated in fuel, so even if you haven’t had either recently alone, the combo here is wonderful.
Mode of Consumption
I started working through this gram in my Puffco Peak Pro with a lovely new 3D Chamber upgrade in the high 400°Fs but found 510-520°F was the real sweet spot for this rosin whether I used my Puffco or my Tsunami rig. As you’ll read in a moment, it's best suited for small to medium sized dabs, but if you want to get completely smacked, send it on a larger glob of course. I tend to prefer this one without water so you can get the unfiltered flavor. You can’t go wrong no matter what you decide to dab it in because it’s primo stuff.
Flavors & Mouthfeel
Immediately after taking a pea-sized dab of this rosin my mouth was lightly but fully coated in a dry, sweet lemon-laden smoke that yielded quickly to a tartness that lingers politely. It’s pretty tasty and not in your common “all the tropical fruits” kind of way because it does have a hint of that gas at the end, but it's such a smooth smoking hash that it’s very sessionable. You just want to keep taking more dabs because the flavor is unique but somewhat fleeting too. It did make me wonder what other kinds of phenotypes this cross has produced. The #6 version of Candy Fumez that was run here is a winner for sure.
Effects
I try hard not to think much about potency when I’m picking up rosin (or any cannabis product really) but when I saw this äkta creation is just barely over 65% THC while being 75.82% total active cannabinoids, I got excited immediately. For those reading who aren’t quite sure what that means, the delta of about 10% between its THC content and the rest of the cannabinoids present mean this is a heavily full spectrum live rosin. It would be awesome to get a more detailed test report in the future, they are not cheap unfortunately. I can only speculate but it feels like there is definitely a solid CBG component here as the Candy Fumez #6 brings a happy high that leans on the energetic side but without any anxiousness.
It’s not overly strong effects-wise unless you really lay into some bigger dabs. I think it loses some of its fun when I took too big of one, so sticking to smaller or medium servings is advisable, whatever that means for your particular tolerance. If you need a Men in Black memory eraser strain to turn everything off, this is not really it as it shines as a multipurpose high that can be well suited for most other situations. I found the comedown to be consistently relaxing in a way that made me rather forgetful, so it may be best to get stuff done before or during and not after. äkta’s team really did a great job with this rosin and I think just about anyone who wants to smoke some damn good hash will be pleased should they grab some the next time a gram becomes available locally.
