LoCol Love Colorado Cream Soda Flower Strain Review
Highlights
Experience
This batch of Colorado Cream Soda from LoCol Love is loud, cured perfectly, and just in general, textbook ‘top shelf flower’. The frosted, creamy-gas essenced dark green nugs tightly capture the terpenes and delicate trichomes within. That’s why cracking them open and unleashing the rich aroma wave is a highlight of the whole experience. Voted best new Colorado strain by Westword, this cross between Gelato and Kush Mints is not one to miss out on. If you’re seeking some bud that shows up and doesn’t skip a beat, this is the product for you.
Appearance, Bud Structure, Density, & Hydration
Just by glancing at these nugs inside the white jar provided by Unity Rd. Dispensary, it’s clear that LoCol Love’s cultivation team has experience growing. We received several large buds that were beautifully trimmed and looked like they were hardly handled. I could see intact trichomes, both clear and amber, with my naked eye which evenly covered each nug. The untouched trichomes didn’t last long however, as I was eager to get my hands on them to better assess.
After feeling a couple nugs, I did have a bit of sticky residue on my fingers which is almost always a green flag. I decided to break down one large one with my grinder and boy, am I glad I did. This flower broke down into a soft, sticky-when-squeezed shake that was obviously cured to perfection.
Aroma
Unscrewing the grinder cap released a multi-dimensional aroma wave, starting with some initial skunky-gas. Following that was a creamy, lightly sweet, and almost fizzy soda-esque nose feel. This is a bit different from how it smells before it’s broken up though. A Gelato-like, light fruity sweetness is what I initially observed when smelling this Colorado Cream Soda flower in the container.
Mode of Consumption
Using my clean glass bong with fresh water, I tightly packed a bowl and hit it. It burned evenly as I inhaled the milky white smoke, which ended up being a pretty giant rip. Unless I’m smoking a rolled product, my preferred method to burn flower is a bong with water. I find that the water filters the smoke which dulls the “burnt” flavor, allowing other notes to appear.
Flavors, Mouthfeel, & Ash Color
I’ve mentioned in other reviews that it can be difficult to discern specific flavor notes from bud. But as I thoughtfully review more cannabis, my flavor defining skills are improving. The initial notes I picked up on this one from the first inhale paralleled a floral gas with some streaks of pine. The smoke felt soft on my mouth but a bit spicy on the tongue, kinda like a carbonated beverage or well, cream soda. I coughed a little bit after the giant inhale, it was mild and short lived. Nowhere near the eye-watering, gag-inducing type of cough the weed meme accounts on the internet joke about. The ash left behind was a mix of gray, white, and black in some areas, with some unburned green around the edges and the bottom funnel of the bowl.
Effects
Before sparking the Colorado Cream Soda, I was somewhat lethargic, feeling mentally drained having just got home from a long day working and running errands. After hitting a fairly large bowl of ground flower, I experienced a rapid shift in my mood and energy levels. Almost immediately, I felt a gentle warmth spreading through my chest and neck. As crazy as it sounds, I could practically feel the active cannabinoids and terpenes racing through my veins.
What stood out most about this product was its ability to uplift my spirits and boost my motivation. My mental fog quickly dissipated, and I ended up fully engaged in some tasks I needed to wrap up. I found myself seamlessly working on the computer and listening to Lane 8’s new fall mixtape. The combination of this bud, electronic music, and the desire to get shit done was a nearly perfect recipe. I am happy to report that I could enjoy this flower in a relaxed and content state while also managing to be productive. I will say that the wind down from this high was rather heavy and I eventually started to feel pretty drowsy. About 45 minutes after the bong rip I started to zone out a bit and lose focus. This leads me to suggest this strain for the last quarter of the day. If you’re looking for some great flower to take the edge off, LoCol Love’s Colorado Cream Soda works wonders.
