Bubba’s Kush Super Boof Flower Strain Review
Highlights
Experience
If you just want to smoke the best flower you can get your hands on at any given time, Bubba’s Kush Super Boof is a must find the next time it gets dropped at the dispensary. The flower we received delivered on all fronts: it’s very potent, tastes and smells incredible, has a lovely high, and smokes beyond smooth. The cherry orange profile is woven together with strands of an appreciable earthiness that make it special. The pictures just don’t do it justice. Should you get the chance to try some, do it and don’t hesitate.
Appearance, Bud Structure, Density, & Hydration
Bubba’s Kush Super Boof is a comically named strain that came to us with a handful of others recently from A Cut Above, which is a dispensary in Denver known for stocking a lot of high quality options. In breaking from the overtly sweet or delectable marketing names that you might expect of a cross between Black Cherry Punch and Tropicana Cookies, when you first open the simple plastic jar it’s apparent this is not, in fact, anything resembling boof. If that’s a new word in your vocabulary, it’s worth Googling.
This flower is beautifully light green and the buds we got were certainly on the small side but still packed a jungle of trichomes across the surface of each. It came to us almost perfectly hydrated (not crispy, not spongy) and was very satisfying in the tactile department to break up. I was most surprised to see so little purple in this phenotype given the lineage, but upon a very close look, there are tiny anthocyanin dots on the bottom of some of the flowers. It’s pretty blocky in appearance and has all the visual hallmarks of something that’s going to be good despite not necessarily being unique in any given way.
Aroma
Aroma-wise, Bubba’s Kush delivered big time and it’s hard not to love how it smells. The flowers we received seem more Black Cherry Punch-forward with that distinct summery, sweet yet slightly tart fruitiness that ripe cherries offer. You also definitely get the citrusy Tropicana Cookies element in there too, which comes together beautifully in your nose. The strain was bred by Blockhead who originally named it Blockberry, but then a phenotype was selected by the lowkey legendary grower Mobile Jay who in turn dubbed that cut Super Boof. So here we are. In any event, it’s heavy on the fruity spectrum without much if any detectable funk, earthiness, or gas notes at all really.
Mode of Consumption
I’ve been on a bong kick lately and decided to keep the trend going. Before this review was penned I was on a backpacking trip where many joints were roasted so a little filtration was on the menu. Even though it carries the risk of a tiny bit of flavor dilution, I think the increase in smoothness is a worthy trade off at least some of the time. We only received a gram and the vast majority of it was blazed in the classic bubbling, chugging-through manner.
Flavors, Mouthfeel, & Ash Color
There’s something wonderful to be said about cannabis flower that smokes nearly as smoothly as some live rosins do, which happened to be the case this time. I was so surprised by how pleasant it was in that department that I ended up doing a comparison with a few rips out of a spoon as well, which confirmed what I suspected all along: the Super Boof from Bubba’s Kush is some seriously great stuff. The flavor is a little on the delicate side but is lightly sweet and true to cherry-orange form from what it smells like. What I enjoyed the most about how it tastes is that it’s authentically fruity as far as dried cannabis goes and isn’t overwhelmed by its likely myrcene content but is instead improved by it. The hint of earthiness rounds out the farmer’s fruit market flavor profile.
Effects
I’m a big fan of strains that are both very potent yet cognitively focused; this combination makes for a high that suits many people quite well in my experience. At TerpGuide, admittedly we’re always skeptical of high falutin' test results, but the whopping 30% THCA figure appears to be accurate or at least close to the power the buds in my jar possessed. The Super Boof will get you nice and high, but it won’t obliterate your ability to get things done. It’s also a bit relaxing in the way a perfectly timed glass of red wine can be (only very rarely do I believe alcohol of any kind and cannabis can be accurately compared). I found it to be a rather congenial smoking experience each time that I wouldn’t go out of my way to share – I really nursed the gram like you would fine solventless.
There’s quite a bit of terrific flower out there if you know where to look, but unfortunately most of it isn’t. Colorado’s batting average in this department is higher than most states, but not as high as others at times, such as special terroirs of northern California in particular. Bubba’s Kush’s garden however absolutely delivered on this one and after careful consideration, this Super Boof met the coveted Headstash grade that we rarely award to any product. After a quick inspection online, it appears rather rare and certainly isn’t your average cultivation fare that makes the rounds everywhere. On account of its stunning potency, excellent terpene profile, and its cloud-like, velvety smoking experience, this is definitely one you need to try and get your hands on.
